New housing model with services for the elderly

PARTNERS Program of the Esade Public Governance Center (EsadeGov), together with the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat of Catalonia, held a day of reflection at Esade Barcelona, on April 8, 2024, on potential housing models with services for older people.

In recent years, the elderly population has experienced significant growth, driven by demographic aging. The retirement of the baby boom generation will cause this aging to accelerate in the coming decades, generating challenges in the field of housing and care, with a growing demand for solutions adapted to the needs and preferences of the group of older people.

This has highlighted the need to effectively address the housing challenge for older people, guaranteeing access to safe, accessible and adequate options that allow them to maintain their autonomy and quality of life.

The reflection and development of new housing models are essential to respond to this emerging demand and guarantee healthy and satisfactory aging for the elderly population in the coming years.

On this day, a new housing model for older people has been proposed with the aim of exploring its viability together with actors from the public, private and academic sectors. A reflection that should allow collaboration and the exchange of ideas between professionals, experts and community members interested in addressing this important challenge.

Welcome
